About Us

Built by someone who's been in the trenches

35+ years of IT experience, distilled into an on-premises AI-powered platform that does what entire NOC and SOC teams do — running on your hardware, never phoning home.

John Vannatter

Founder & Lead Architect

I've been working in information technology since 1989 — back when networks ran on coax and a 10 Mbps hub was considered fast. Over the past three and a half decades, I've built, broken, and rebuilt just about every kind of network there is.

I started Secured Networks because I saw the same problem everywhere: businesses spending tens of thousands on monitoring tools that still couldn't tell them why things were broken — and worse, sending all their data to the cloud to find out. I knew AI could do better, and I knew it should run on your hardware, not someone else's.

Wayne AI is the analyst I always wished I had on my team — one that knows every protocol, every vendor, every log format, and never takes a day off. He runs locally on your GPU, so your data never leaves your building. I built him to think the way a senior engineer thinks, but faster and without the coffee breaks.

The journey

1989

Where it all started

Began a career in IT when networks were built on Novell NetWare and a Token Ring was cutting edge. Learned that understanding the fundamentals — packets, protocols, and troubleshooting — matters more than any tool.

1990s — 2000s

Decades in the field

Managed networks across every industry and every scale. Cisco, Microsoft, Linux, VMware — built the expertise that would eventually become Wayne's knowledge base. Every outage, every breach, every 3 AM call taught a lesson.

2020s

The AI opportunity

Realized that AI had matured enough to do what I'd always dreamed of: take 35 years of networking and security knowledge, encode it into an engine, and let it monitor, detect, and fix problems autonomously. Secured Networks was born.

2026

Secured Networks v10 — On-Premises

Wayne AI now has 113 tools, 96 detection rules, patch management with RFC approval, and understands over 50 technology domains. The entire platform runs on-premises via Docker — your AI, on your GPU, with zero cloud dependency. Replaces SolarWinds, Splunk, and Zabbix combined.

What we believe

Simplicity wins

Docker compose up. Full visibility. If it takes more than 30 minutes to deploy a complete NOC/SOC platform, it's too complicated.

🧠

AI that actually helps

Wayne doesn't just alert you — he tells you why it's broken, what caused it, and fixes it. Real intelligence, not fancy dashboards.

🛡️

Your data stays yours

Everything runs on your hardware. The AI runs on your GPU. No cloud APIs, no telemetry, no phone-home. Your credentials, your logs, your data — never leave your building.

💰

Fair pricing

Enterprise capabilities shouldn't cost enterprise prices. We built Secured Networks so small IT teams can afford big-company tools.

Built in the North

Designed and built in Yellowknife, NT. When your internet is satellite and it's -40°C outside, you learn to build things that are resilient.

🤝

Real support

When you email support, you're talking to the person who built it. Not a chatbot, not a tier-1 script reader. The actual engineer.

Beyond the keyboard

When I'm not building monitoring engines or teaching Wayne new tricks, you'll find me somewhere outdoors in Canada's North. Yellowknife sits on the shore of Great Slave Lake — the 10th largest lake in the world — and there's no better place to clear your head than on the water or in the bush.

I share my home with two dogs who have no interest in network protocols but are excellent at reminding me that there's a world outside the terminal. They're my unofficial QA team — if I've been coding too long, they let me know.
